Bespoke website for StoryTrails
StoryTrails is a unique immersive storytelling experience, led by StoryFutures Academy, that brings stories from the past to life with 21st-century technology. Greenwich Design won the pitch to redevelop a bespoke WordPress Website for StoryTrails, which was to become the central hub for events taking place in town squares, local libraries and streets in 15 locations across the UK throughout 2022. The website was part of a strategy to boost awareness and engagement to engage the target audience with the co-creation process through events such as local community workshops.

What we did
The challenge was to develop a website that connected programme partners and community participants using a simple and easily navigable interface that would appeal to a non-techie audience. However, the backend needed to be robust enough to house video rich content, games engine models and other state-of-the-art immersive technologies that were used by the 50 emerging creatives brought on board to produce the stories. A ‘live’ element enables the Story Trails team to showcase whatever location is currently being visited on the tour, and an interactive map allows for live updates once the tour has started.
What happened
The website has successfully launched as part of the pre-awareness campaign. The StoryTrails events will kick off in July, with the first event taking place in Omagh followed by events in Dundee, Dumfries, Blackpool, Bradford, Sheffield, Lincoln, Wolverhampton, Swansea / Abertawe, Newport / Casnewydd, Bristol, Swindon, Slough, Lambeth and Lewisham.
