Classic Characters is a family business spanning two generations, borne out of a passion for storytelling in comic caption form. With more than 30 years’ experience across retail, gift shops, shows and conventions, the company needed a revamp for the digital age.

E-Commerce Websites
Here's some we made earlier
JuniorJones made the bold decision to introduce a completely new product into the highly competitive Stroller market. To differentiate themselves in the market, their USP was that their flagship model is made from Carbon Fibre. This gives them the ability to create a seamless chassis with minimal connecting parts. We were approached to help deliver an E-Commerce site. From design to build.

How we build websites in SE London
How we work
How frustrating it is when the website you’re trying to access is slow or clunky? Our brilliant team of in-house design experts and web developers work hand-in-hand to make sure your website is user-friendly as well as looking great. First, we’ll sit down with you to find out how your website fits into your broader marketing strategy. For some of our clients, e-Commerce is the main objective; for others, it’s about storytelling and brand-building. We’ll discuss everything from your business goals and messaging, to assets like video that bring your brand to life. We’ll also chat to you about the latest technologies available to make your website stand out, and suggest how you can incorporate other content, like your social media channels or blogs, to provide a richer brand experience.
Planning is everything
As your website design agency, planning is a core part of what we do. It’s important that we spend the time upfront to ensure we have everything in place to make the design process run as smoothly as possible. Before we put pen to paper, we’ll work closely with you to understand your communications objectives, and we’ll develop a detailed scope of work that reflects this. This covers everything from the ins and outs of user flow and navigation analytics, to the design and functionality of each page
Your visual language.
Once we have your website scope laid out, it’s time for our talented designers to get their creative chops around the project. They’ll start by producing moodboards to inspire you and provide a sense of the potential design direction. This is all part of establishing your visual language.
At the same time, our website developers begin mapping out the site, first putting together simple wireframes to plot out all the functionality required for each page. This helps us to figure out the best user journey and allows us to work out what content should be displayed on each page.
Prototype pages.
Once we know you’re happy with the wireframes, our team will focus on a couple of key pages and work closely with you to develop and refine the visual design style and functionality. The next step is concept approval – you just give us the nod and we’ll roll out the template design and functionality for the whole website.
Using a design tool called Sketch, we create an interactive prototype so that you can get a real feel for the site before we move into the final development phase. This is a really important part of the feedback process and ensures that there are no surprises or delays once the site’s in development. It goes without saying that all our web designs are responsive; we create individual mobile designs to guarantee your visitors have the best user experience and interface no matter what device they’re on.
Bespoke web development.
Greenwich Design’s digital team are specialists in WordPress – it’s our ‘go to’ platform of choice and our experience and expertise means we know how to get the very best out of it for you. We develop all of our websites in a ‘staged environment’ so that testing and approval can be carried out safely before the sites go live. As part of our build process we customise the admin area of the site to meet your needs, providing you with the flexibility to easily manage and update your content internally once the site is live.
We ensure all our websites are SEO friendly – that means optimising load speeds, minimising code, implementing SSL, compressing images and ensuring that conversion tracking is fully integrated as part of the website build.
Population and migration.
We’ll work with you to map out the content you need and then we’ll populate your site with contextual content, imagery and video. If it’s a new site, we can also help with the content creation – from copy to visuals. If we’re redesigning your existing website, we’ll make sure we migrate all the content across to the new build without a broken link in sight!
Putting it to the test
We’re nearly there… The last piece of the puzzle is to give the site a thorough road test before it goes live. Our web designers bug test the site through different browsers across loads of different devices. If there’s a problem, they’ll find it. We can also test eCommerce payments and any other API integrations so that once we flip the switch to ‘on’, there’ll be no unpleasant surprises!
And we’re live...
This is the moment everything’s been leading up to – time to show off your new website to the world. Our development team makes sure your old site is backed up safely then we push your new site live, synching it with your domain. We’ll keep an eye on everything to make sure it’s all functioning as intended, while you sit back and enjoy your shiny new website.
Hosting and maintenance
If you have any hosting or maintenance requirements, we’ll take care of that for you too. Our hosting platform is built with developers in mind and we have a server specialist on hand to deal with any technicalities that may arise. We can set you up with either shared hosting or Virtual Private Servers.
If you’re looking for peace of mind with the ongoing maintenance of your site, we have options for all scales of website, ranging from small business information sites up to multi-country e-Commerce stores. Packages include monthly WordPress plugins and incremental updates; monthly backup; monitoring of WordPress errors; loading speed monitoring; malware scan and removal; monthly site report; Google Analytics setup; and domain registration – we can register all domains on your behalf and set up your email accounts via Google.
